Today, as we approached the school grounds, kids were running from cars and the buses to the playground. When we got close to school, AJ took my hand, and leaned in to me. He doesn’t say much with words, but it was a moment of holiness for me.
I’ve launched a new website, Autism and Church, to talk about having autism and being in the church–for individuals and family members of persons on the autism spectrum. I hope that we will have tips, stories, challenges and joys shared about welcoming people with autism into the church. Continue Reading →
It’s been a long time since I’ve done a personal blog post, so here are the Top Ten Things I’ve Been Up To:
I lost it twice. Broken down crying, wondering what has happened to me and my life and how in the world I can be both a mom and a minister.

“Because he has autism,” I reply.
Sometimes it’s really hard for me, because every day I have to remind others of why my son is not typical.
With kids it’s easier. They don’t fully understand what autism is, but they do […]
It’s been a long time since I’ve done a Tuesday Top Ten list! I’ll try to get back into the habit now and then!
We moved to the Seattle area this summer and in many ways, it has been like moving back home. Growing up in a small town in Alaska, as a teenager I […]
