I wrote this article for [D]mergent this week on the importance and absolute necessity of churches creating safe and accessible spaces-including restrooms–for disabled persons as well as transgender individuals. Please check it out, read it, and share it–because we don’t often talk about these issues within our congregational contexts. We talk about laws […]
I contribute to [D]mergent on a regular basis (usually on Wednesdays). This week, I reflected on “Good Fridays, Everyday” and the recognition that the sting of death is not taken away by Easter. We still deal with loss and pain, but we live with hope. Check it out here.
I posted on [D]mergent this week another entry for the UncoSynchro blog a reflection about the non-indictment of Darren Wilson and the events unfolding in Ferguson and around the country, along with resources that lift up non-white voices on racism and reflecting on social justice.
I’ve been a busy bee writing lately!
Check out my post on Open Gathering’s Edge Pieces on “Breaking the Silence: Disability, Mental Illness and the Church.” As part of National Mental Health Awareness Week and the launch […]

When I was in seminary, I remember attending denominational events for seminarians and new pastors in which we talked about the “unchurched.” Questions were asked about in workshops and seminars about how we were going to reach the unchurched. Friends were […]
This week I reflected on the need for pastors to work out of the office at [D]mergent. I’ve been in pastoral ministry for eleven years now, and in that time, I think pastoral ministry has shifted priorities. In the past, one did their work in the office and left only for pastoral […]
I wrote for [D]mergent today about the need for creative leadership in order to generate creativity within a congregation. In my experience, sharing my ideas has helped others reach into their God-given creativity and share their gifts for ministry. I’m seeing it at work right now in my congregation, and it’s exciting!
