Wednesday, January 1st, 2014—Eighth Day of Christmas, New Year’s Day
The Gift of New Hope
Scripture: Isaiah 61:1-3

Reflection: It’s a new day, a new year! The prophet Isaiah shared good news to the people who were returning home a long, long time ago, that this time was there time. This time was God’s time. As we enter this New Year, this is our time. This is God’s time, for it is always God’s time. What are some of your hopes for the New Year?

Activity: Write down or type your hopes for the New Year. Create a word collage by cutting words out of magazines or typed paper and glue onto colored paper (or scraps of wrapping paper). Hang it on your fridge or bulletin board to remind you.

Prayer: God of New Beginnings, we look forward to this New Year with hope and wonder. Help us to live into our hopes and dreams. In the name of Christ, who is all our new beginning, we pray. Amen.
