Scripture: Luke 1:46-55

Mary’s Song of Praise, known as the Magnificat, sings praise to God for what God has done in the past, what God has done for Mary and the people of Mary’s time, and for what God will do in the future, lifting up the poor and lowly, filling the hungry with good things–in other words, God’s Good News for all people.

In what way have you seen the Good News of God’s Son, Jesus the Christ, manifested in your life, in the past? How has the Good News been manifest in your life this Advent season? Where can you expect to see the Good News in the future? As the people of God, we are actively waiting for Christ to come again, to come in a new way into our world and into our lives. We should expect to be on the lookout for God’s Good News in our very near future. We should be expectantly waiting, beyond Christmas, beyond this year, but always on the lookout for ways we can participate in the reign of Christ here on earth as it is in heaven.

Glory, Praise, and Majesty to You, O God, and to Your Son, Jesus the Christ, and to the Holy Spirit. Help us to seek Your Good News in our world, and to participate in that Good News now and in the future, as we have in the past. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
